| Residents Cope with Down Bridge
Because of a bridge problem in Cayuga County, residents of an island there have been unable to bring cars onto their only bridge for a week now. Parts of the Haiti Bridge collapsed last weekend. State Senator Mike Nozzolio held a meeting Saturday with the island's 60 residents who rely on the bridge to transport supplies, fuel, and emergency services. Since the collapse they've carried it all on foot or on ATVs and they're demanding a permanent solution. The senator says it's going to be difficult to put together the several million dollars it could cost to repair the bridge right away. It take could several months "I believe we need to find the least cost alternative," said Sen. Mike Nozzolio, (R) 54th district. “Building a bridge like this bridge at the same span, the same height, it is, I believe a tremendous financial challenge." The section that collapsed was actually an older bridge covered over in 1990 by the current main deck made of plank wood.
Title insurance best proof of ownership
DEAR BOB: We just finished building a house on our lot. We paid the builder cash. Do we need to obtain a deed to the house? The builder says we do not get a deed because we already have clear title to the land and the house is just an improvement to our lot. We have releases of liens from all the subcontractors. Our builder says it will cost us $2,000 to $3,000 to get a title clearance for a deed. Our custom home builder lives in the neighborhood and has been in business for several years, following in his father's footsteps. He enjoys a wonderful reputation. -- John and Mary H. DEAR JOHN AND MARY: If you have an owner's title insurance policy for your land, that is your best assurance you really own the property, including the new house built on it. If you don't have an owner's title policy, buy one from a title insurer.

(AFX UK Focus) 2007-08-06 11:19 GMT: Six nations to meet Tuesday on energy aid for North Korea
SEOUL (Thomson Financial) - Officials from six nations will start talks on Tuesday on how to supply almost one million tons of fuel oil or equivalent aid promised to North Korea in return for a permanent nuclear shutdown. The two-day meeting, at the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjom, is one of several working groups meeting to follow up the North's shutdown last month of its Yongbyon reactor. The site produced plutonium for bombs such as the nuclear device tested last October. The shutdown, the first step in a six-nation nuclear disarmament deal, was rewarded with 50,000 tons of heavy fuel oil from South Korea. If the North declares and permanently disables all its nuclear facilities, it will receive another 950,000 tons of oil or equivalent aid, plus major diplomatic and security benefits, under the second phase.
